Have I mentioned lately, how much I enjoy The Pursuit staff? In the short time we've been together we have been learning a lot about each other. God has brought a team of multifaceted people together. It's important in church planting for each person on your team to have the ability to wear many hats. We all have primary roles in the church's leadership but we also know there are other areas needing direction.
This was played out before us this week. If you have been praying for us or just reading the blog, you probably noticed we have been looking for a Children's Team Director. Even though the search continues, it has become apparent that role will not be filled by launch day, January 27, 2008. Our target area and audience is big on families and we must have a fully-functioning Children's area for our Weekend Celebrations.
Earlier this week, I was meeting with Erin Diaz, Community Groups Team Director. Her passion for getting unconnected people to understand the need to live in community is infectious ... in a good way. Erin is the type of person who gives everything she does 110%. I am pretty sure she was the girl in high school who would always get nervous before exams, say she'd be lucky to pass and then always get an A+. During our meeting, I asked her to head up the Weekend Celebration Children's area. She said, "I'll do it."
Those three words, I think best describes the attitude of our staff. Everyone is willing to step up. I have no doubt Erin is going to form an amazing team of people who will share the love of Jesus with kids.
