Jaime's Story

A few posts ago we gave you a glimpse into Jaime Lopez's baptism. Many of you wanted to know more about his story.

Jaime Lopez connected with The Pursuit after his wife and teenagers had attended Celebration Services for several weeks. He and his wife, Emilce listen to the message each week via translation headsets available thanks to your generous contributions.

Jaime was baptized by Alex on Sunday, April 6. Before his baptism, Jaime shared these words:

I want to thank God for allowing us to be here and for being in this church where I've learned very quickly to love. I know that God orchestrated everything in my life. He wanted me to be here, and He wanted our family to be here. It has all been within God's will.

Before I was part of a Christian community, I used to think that everything I did was fine. I did good things and that was okay. But now in Jesus I have found many blessings for me and my family. I'm ready to start a new walk with Him.

Two in One Week

It's been a great couple weeks despite the exodus of those who went on Spring Break. The last two Sundays we have had the honor of celebrating with two Christ-followers as they took their next step in their relationship with Jesus by being baptized.

Aracelis was baptized last week at Hiram and Liz Rios' house and Jaime (pronounced "Hi-may") was the first person ever to be baptized in our hot tub! When Janie and I bought this house last Spring we hoped we would get to use it for that purpose. Jaime is the first man officially baptized as part of The Pursuit. I loved seeing Francesca and Ari take this step but there was a special excitement I felt as I watched Jaime take his next step in front of his wife and two kids.

We had about 20 people over at our house yesterday afternoon to celebrate along with the Lopez family. I love my "job!"

2nd Baptism

After The Pursuit's celebration service on Sunday, Bob Smith baptized Aracelis. She has an incredible story which she shared with us before her baptism. (If we can get a copy of it we will put it on the blog) God has been doing some serious work in her life and it shows.

Sunday was one of those moments, when God shows you that all the hard work and struggles that go into starting a church in South Florida are nothing compared to what He is capable of.

To everyone out there that supports The Pursuit Christian Church financially or through prayer ... God is using you. Keep it up! We need you more than ever.

1st Baptism Tomorrow!

Tomorrow will be a special day for The Pursuit Christian Church. After the Celebration Service we are going to continue the celebration as we have our very first baptism! A family who attends is offering us their pool.

Francesca is a high school student who will be baptized by her best friend who has been following Christ for a while. What a special day for both of them!

Pray for Francesca and for the many others who need to come to this decision for themselves.
