Just received a nice note and check from Howard and Martha Brammer today. I can't tell you what an encouragement these two have been in our lives. This was extremely humbling.
Howard has been serving as Senior Minister at Traders Point Christian Church for over 20 years and lead the church through some very exciting times. Howard is retiring (not sure if he even knows the meaning of the word) this June. His last Sunday is June 10.
I am honored to have served on a church staff with him for the past nine years.
When I was confident God was leading Janie and me to church planting, Howard was one of the first guys I called to seek wisdom from. His affirmation meant a ton to me.
Since that time he has opened doors of opportunity for me:
1. He (and Bob Smith) sent me to a church planting course at Cincinnati Christian University in January. Martha even let me stay at their new (and very cool) house in Clifton!
2. He let me sit in on a meeting with several other church leaders in the city as they planned a new church plant in downtown Indy.
3. Everytime I see him, he asks how things are going with the church planting process.
4. The other day, I was talking with another Senior Minister about the possiblity of his church supporting The Miami Pursuit financially. He said, "Oh, I know all about you, guys. I saw Howard at a North American Christian Convention meeting and he was talking you up."
See what I mean? Humbling.
